A second year Media Production student at Coventry University , I have always been interested in the arts. Originally my background lay in performing arts where I committed myself to ballet , disco and freestyle dance from the age of two upwards and learnt to express myself through movement. I loved the atmosphere of being on a stage and putting on a show for an audience.
It was from this dedication that I realised the beauty of expression through lots of different mediums. At school I quickly felt that creativity allowed for a deeper exploration of issues further than any other subject offered and provided escapism for both the audience and the creator. The sheer power and influence that film can have on so many people is inspirational and why my heart lies firmly in film.
Working my way up from a Creative Media and Arts level 2 Diploma through to Media A level and where I am now on a degree course has been a hugely beneficial experience. I have taken this knowledge to create my own short films and animations outside of my education and have been fortunate enough to gain professional experience in the industry.
As an associate producer for the filming and marketing of live event ‘Keep Calm and Carry on Dancing’ with award winning film producer company Lightweaver Productions I was involved in all aspects of film production and gained invaluable camera skills. The feeling of seeing my name in the credits at the premiere and the positive response from the audience was phenomonemal and has further inspired my enthusiasm as a media practioner.
I created a horror film trailer for my Media Studies A level which appeared at Cineworld cinema. This was an extremely rewarding experience and the process of writing , directing and producing this film taught me a great deal about film making.
Throughout my degree I aim to achieve alot more than letters after my name. I wish to develop my ideas and my passion for the media into successful pieces of work which are original and thought provoking.
