We had to find twilight images and non-related images, which somehow had a connection. Now that I have finished this module and looked into Twilight more analytically I decided to redo this task and explain my choices.
I have chosen these two pictures as juxtaposed they represent the comparison between the complicated relationship of the stars both on and off screen.
I chose these two pictures as the Iconography of fangs is important within Twilight and the vampire genre in general. Similarly this motif is also used in The Rocky Horror Picture show as a sexual reference. This brings into question the use of sexual ideology in Twilight, a supposed teen flick.
If we look at the way Edward is established as a vampire today in comparison to a more traditional vampire that past generations can identify with it demonstrates how our audience has changed. Audience no longer want to be scared perhaps because we have been desensitised but we want glitter and fantasy.
Arguably Twilight discloses an example of an unhealthy relationship. ‘heroin’ has many negative connotations such as the notion of decline, out-of control and pain to describe Bella and Edwards relationship. Whether it is healthy to explore this kind of relationship in a appealing fantastical way is a whole other topic of debate.
After exploring the iconic themes and motifs that recur though-out Twilight I wrote and co produced this short biopic film about the supposedly thin line which separates Kristen’s and Roberts relationship with their on screen persona.
